<image:caption>In case of inclement weather: WHDCC follows the Falmouth Public School system for the first 48 hours of any closures – If the public schools are still closed after two days, the Board of Directors makes a decision in consultation with the Director. If there is a 2-hour delayed opening we will open at 10:30. If there is an early-release we will close immediately, at 1:00, or right after nap depending on when the closure starts and severity of the situation. If there is a closure of all after-school activities, we will close at 3:30. During public school vacation weeks and summer break: we defer to the Marine Biological Laboratories (MBL) in a MBL delayed opening, the day care will be closed. <image:title>Transitions & Child Guidance - Transitions</image:title>
<image:caption>As your child grows they will be going through many transitions! If they are enrolled in our program from toddlerhood through the preschool years, our educators will be guiding them through these changes. To ease the transition between classrooms, the Coop ensures children are familiar and comfortable with all of the teachers and children in both groups from the very beginning. It is important to us that children know and trust everyone in the building with them to foster a sense of security and stability. Our classes participate in regular school-wide activities throughout the year and play outside combined as one group daily. Children transitioning from the toddler program into the preschool class move-up with their familiar peers in September. New children will be offered opportunities to visit the program before enrolling, meet the teachers, and see the space. Children are well-prepared for these transitions through regular discussions with their teachers and families. If your child moves to a different program in town or out of state, all information in your child's file will be signed and dated by the Director. If requested, we will transfer your child's records to another agency or school. At the end of the school year, the Coop has a graduation ceremony, or ‘goodbye party’, for anyone leaving the program. Not only is this a fun community event, it is also intentionally planned to mark a transition and help prepare children for an upcoming change.</image:caption>

<image:title>About Us</image:title>
<image:caption>The Woods Hole Day Care Cooperative was founded in 1980 by a group of working parents from the Woods Hole area who sought to establish a local daycare for toddlers and preschoolers (21 months – 5 years). The mission was to provide children with a warm, safe, happy, and organized environment, where opportunities for growth and development may occur. This goal remains the vision for our school today and is achieved through collaboration between administrators, teachers, guardians, and our larger community. Staff work with each family to ensure a peaceful transition from home to school. A balance of play activities - structured or unstructured, informative or creative, active or quiet, observing or participating, alone or together, indoor or out - are provided by the staff that will enhance the child's self-image and encourage a natural curiosity to explore and discover the world. The program stresses three areas of learning: formal planned curriculum, teachable moments, and life skills. The planned curriculum includes shapes, colors, animals, seasons, holidays, and much more. Teachable moments provide opportunities for growth in social and problem-solving skills. Development of life skills fosters the growth of independence and a positive self-image. Our school values family participation and seeks community input to continuously improve our program and best serve the children in our care. We also operate in accordance with guidelines established by the State. The Coop is licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC). Dept. of EEC, 1 Washington St. Ste 20, Taunton, MA 02780. (508) 828-5025. Parents may contact EEC for information regarding the program's regulatory compliance history. The regulations are available to you on line at http://www.mass.gov/edu/government/departments-and-boards/department-of-early-education-and-care.</image:caption>
